Telugu.cc is an independent, free resource for the Telugu language. It is not backed by a company, an institution or an app. It is a set of carefully assembled reference pages plus a free AI chatbot that answers questions in Telugu, and it is run by one person who cares about the language.
There are around 96 million Telugu speakers, which makes it one of the most widely spoken languages in the world — and one of the worst served online. Search for a Telugu word meaning and you will get a dozen near-identical pages of machine-translated nonsense, wrapped in advertising. That gap is what this site is trying to close.
Every entry on this site is written and reviewed by a Telugu speaker. Nothing here is bulk-imported from a dictionary dump or run through machine translation and published unchecked. That is the reason the vocabulary list has a few hundred entries rather than the "10,000+" that competing sites advertise — the number is small because each entry was actually looked at.
Where a word is regional, archaic or contested, the page says so. Where letter counts or spellings vary between sources — and in Telugu they often do — the disagreement is explained rather than papered over. Proverbs in particular exist in several wordings, and the pages note this instead of presenting one version as canonical.
Telugu is a living language with real regional variation between Telangana, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, plus a wide gap between written and spoken registers. Some of what is here will be wrong for your dialect, and some of it will simply be wrong. Both are worth reporting.
If you find an error — a bad translation, a misspelling in the script, a proverb attributed to the wrong tradition — please get in touch. Corrections from native speakers are the main way this material improves, and they are always acted on.
The chatbot on the homepage is a genuinely useful tool and also a genuinely limited one. It can translate, explain grammar, draft text and answer questions in Telugu. It can also be confidently wrong, particularly about rare words, regional usage and anything requiring specific factual knowledge. Treat it as a fast first draft, not as an authority — and use the reference pages on this site when you need something you can rely on.
